The Leadership Judgment Indicator Series

The Leadership Judgment Indicator Series

Leaders in thriving organisations must respond daily to complex challenges, diverse teams and hard decisions – while acting with the high level of competency required to effectively lead a team. The Leadership Judgement Indicator suite of tests examines leadership capability from multiple angles for recruitment, assessment and development. In addition to the original and highly successful LJI (now in its second edition, LJI‑2), there are targeted leadership judgement assessments for global corporations (G-LJI) and sales leaders (S-LJI).

The Leadership Judgment Indicator (LJI-2)

'The LJI-2 represents an extremely useful tool in the assessment and development of leadership skills.  Built on the well-researched foundation of situational judgment tests (SJTs), the LJI provides information on leadership style preferences as well as judgment skills.   While preference is relatively easy to assess, judgment is not, but the LJI has been developed extremely cogently, based on the respected expertise of the two authors and a well-thought-out model.

'The authors have developed an approach to assess leadership judgment that is quite reliable given the complex, multidimensional nature of the construct.  In addition, the authors have taken the time to deeply evaluate the reliability and validity of the scores produced, providing support from statistics as well as theory.'

Nate Thompson, Vice-President, Assessment Systems Corporation, St Paul, MN, USA.

Global - Leadership Judgement Indicator (G-LJI)

'The G-LJI shares the robust and well researched underlying theoretical model of the LJI. After exhaustive testing both in Ciba and a range of multi-national companies, we included the G-LJI in our senior leadership assessment. It received very positive feedback from users and test takers around the world and supported a powerful and highly effective development process.

'I have now used the G-LJI beyond Ciba in a wide range of multinational organisations in different cultures and it adds a much needed dimension to leadership assessment. It resonates strongly with clients, has great utility and can be used in recruitment and selection situations as well as being an aid to the development of middle and senior leaders. It takes an important place in the family of LJI instruments and in the broader assessment field and I am sure that with appropriate use, the G-LJI will greatly aid organisations in increasing the effectiveness of their leadership development.'

Sales - Leadership Judgement Indicator (S-LJI)

'As a sales professional in the IT and telecoms arena I had always been aware that there was a lack of psychometric testing that was specific to the sales professional.  Leaving the telecoms market, I set up my own sales training consultancy and was fortunate to land clients such as Microsoft, Cable & Wireless and Hewlett Packard.  It wasn’t long before we were asked to comment on both the recruitment and the longer-term potential of their sales team.  Although we had good instincts in the training room, that’s all they were, and this wasn’t always enough to match the clients’ expectations.

'This tool fits a place in the market for three critical parts of a sales professional’s career.  The first is the use of the tool in recruitment, for decisions can be validated and both time and money saved. The second is for progression by understanding what types of people are needed and where in the organisation.  This can ensure sales professionals stay both engaged and importantly profitable within an organisation.  Finally for coaching ongoing skills – particularly useful for a training consultant like me if I get the best out of my delegates especially the more senior ones, I will continue to grow my business.'
