CHILDREN’S STORIES
Michael Lock is a retired child and educational psychologist and former teacher. He has five sons and four grandchildren. Over many years he has written stories, poems, and lively sketches for the amusement—and quiet encouragement—of his children and grandchildren.
Each piece works on more than one level. There is a simple, enjoyable storyline on the surface, but beneath that sit gentle developmental themes: friendship, courage, honesty, belonging, self-control, kindness, and the capacity to put things right after mistakes. The aim is never to lecture, but to offer images and moments that children can carry with them and return to as they grow.
Now retired, Michael will be pleased to make these writings more widely available. He will be publishing them through Amazon, and the pages that follow will provide short outlines and links for anyone who would like to share them with the children in their life.
When this page is populated, in the weeks and months to come, he hopes you find them full of joy, warmth, and compassion—and that they add something good to the simple pleasure of reading together.
