Leadership Judgement Navigator for Assessment Centres
LEADERSHIP JUDGEMENT NAVIGATOR in ASSESSMENT CENTRES
The Leadership Judgement Navigator (LJN) is the decision-tree software that sits beneath the Leadership Judgement Assessor (LJA). It works by guiding the user through up to ten sequential Yes/No questions (five about the task and five about the people) to arrive at the “best bet” leadership decision-making style for a given situation, based on a set of tried-and-tested leadership principles. In that sense, the LJN provides the practical engine for the wider approach: the same underlying principles are used across the suite and were used to craft the standardised scenario logic in the Leadership Judgement Indicator (LJI) series, so LJI users can see the “blueprint” thinking that sits behind the scenarios.
This manual (a historical, unpublished document) shows how the LJN can be put to work in assessment centre settings. It sets out practical exercises that use the Navigator as a central feature — for example, structured group tasks where participants analyse scenarios using the ten questions, negotiate a consensus “best bet” style, and present their rationale to observers. The aim is to help assess and surface leadership judgement and style preferences in a way that feels coherent, evidence-led, and highly discussable.

Finally, because this is an older working document, some screenshots and imagery reflect an earlier design style.
